Hi friends,

In this documentary, I open up personally about the sexual trauma of my childhood, the ups & downs of marriage & parenting, and the mental health journey I'm on while working to build a national brand out of Knowledge House. In Season 1 of Building Your Brand, I partnered with Matt Day (and others) to share his story of growing his brand while navigating through the loss of his Father, his Mother's battle through cancer, and the separation of his wife of 8 years. 

For me, building a business is one of the most personally sacrificing career choices one can make. Navigating through life as an entrepreneur takes an unexplainable toll on nearly every aspect of your life, so only documenting the business side of my & Matt's life felt deceptive. Like I'd only be telling half the story. Because if I chose not to open up about the sexual trauma I experienced as a child, I'd have to lie why it took me so many years to stay focused during my workday because I was having flashbacks and PTSD from images I couldn't get out of my head. And more importantly, I'd miss the opportunity to potentially help others heal by seeing themselves in my story.

The joy of this story is that all of life's challenges are overcomeable. They are all here to teach us an aspect of what it means to be human and to live. And I believe, us entrepreneurs, are able to use all the challenges we face as a way to grow so we can be better leaders for people in our professional & personal lives.

Aside from the realness of what Matt and I face personally, we both are on a journey, like you, to create a profitable and meaningful business. I have to admit, I learn just as much from watching Matt make decisions in his business as what I hope he can learn from me as I build mine–and many others through my marketing agency. I've spent the past 10 years obsessing about what it takes to build a great brand, and I have developed a method called The 25. It's my future book and it's my way of bringing organization to the complex world of brand-building. 

In our documentary, Building Your Brand, you'll watch as I create The 25.
